We, Persico USA, Inc. in Shelby Township, MI, started at the beginning of 2013 as part of the Persico Group. Persico is a family-run company based in Italy, 65 km north-east of Milan.

The location in Shelby Township is the headquarter for operations in the USA, where we are the competence center for the development and commissioning of tools and automated assembly equipment.
 
POSITION DUTIES:
 
  • Establish standards and resources planning for the electrical design, development, improvement and programming of manufacturing control systems.

  • Utilize advanced tools in robotics to simulate and prove concepts for customer feasibility studies for proposed application.

  • Plan and implement system controls per customer specifications in accordance with applicable local and federal safety regulations.

  • Interface with headquarters team regarding corporate standards and specifications, to optimize functionality of equipment imported from headquarters (in Italy) using programming and configuring knowledge of Robot, PLC, Servo Drives, VFD and HMI.

  • Establish resource plan for designated projects with detailed specifications for hardware and software required to meet customer objectives.

  • Develop simulation and offline Robot programs for FANUC and ABB family of robots and KUKA robots.

  • Robot system configuration and set up per defined parameters and working envelopes.

  • Robot programming and debugging on the controllers, end of arm tooling (EOAT) and robot dressing.

  • Robot Vision systems programming and testing for Fanuc IR-Vision system and ABB integrated vision.

  • Robot IR calibration TCP for EOAT accurate TCP.

  • Design electrical and programmable logic controls (PLC) schematics development using AutoCAD Electrical.

  • Work with manufacturing and engineering divisions to develop assembly process controls to meet design objectives.

  • Design, implement and debug PLC programming.

  • Design and integrate HMI interfacing.

  • Program input and output control devices, vision systems and traceability hardware (such as cameras, barcode readers and printers).

  • Setup and program torque controllers and tools for tightening applications.

  • Safety devices integration and set up (such as emergency buttons, light curtains, area scanners, Robot DCS).

  • Perform on-site installation and training on equipment for customers in North America region.

  • Design and program controls for pneumatic systems.

  • Program and integrate tools (such as Press lamination, Glue Edge wrapping tools, Infrared bonding, Glue-less edge wrapping and Vibration bonding tools) into compression processes for interior automotive components.

  • Set up and integrate PLC to Robots communication and interface for assembly equipment (pick and place, drilling, gluing, cutting, inspection, 3D stitching).

  • Integrate remote input/output modules for device communication.

  • Work and coordinate activities with external suppliers/vendors to define the most optimal software and hardware solution for the process control.

  • Remote connect to customer equipment to solve issues during production.

  • Diagnose and solve equipment problems.

  • Interface and support equipment development with customer representatives at Persico USA facilities and customer locations.

  • Travel to customer sites for installation of new equipment and/or of engineering changes implementation, and oversee, review and inspect work of other robot-PLC programmers.

  • Use Microsoft office software to prepare control documentation and communicate with internal and external customers.
 
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Educational/Experiential Requirements:
    Bachelor’s of Engineering degree in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Electrical Controls Engineering or Mecharonics PLUS 48 months experience as a Lead Robotics and PLC Programmer, OR no education plus 96 months experience as a Robotics and PLC Programmer including six month’s experience working with integration of each of the following vision systems: Fanuc iR-Vision, Keyence, Cognex, and Teledyne DALSA, (barcode scanners and printers), and each of the following torque controllers: Atlas Copco, Desoutter, and Stanley.)

  • Special Skills/Foreign Language Requirement:
    Full professional proficiency in English and Italian and professional proficiency in Spanish.

SALARY:
$123,087.00 per year
 
HOURS:
40 hr./wk. Monday- Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
 
TRAVEL:
must be willing and able travel, occasionally, to new and existing customer sites. Geographic location and frequency of travel are unpredictable as travel is on an “as-needed” basis, 4 to 6 times each year with each trip lasting 1-3 days.
